Edition 24

Tik Tok on the Clock!

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

This might be the last edition with a ‘Tik Toks of the Week’ section. Let us take a moment of silence for our potential fallen soldier. I personally am still in the denial phase of grief over this Tik Tok ban. There is just no wayyy they take my silly little app from me! Because at the end of the day it’s not that silly because I use that app like google. Recipes, news, book recommendations, restaurant reviews, pop culture. I’m scared.

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: How Likely I am to Beat Your Ass in Game Pigeon Games

My love language is someone playing a game pigeon game with me while simultaneously having a full-blown conversation with me.

  1. Archery - this is quite literally the ONE game I am good at

  2. Cup Pong - do not mistake this as a game I’m good at but I do get lucky from time to time

  3. Crazy 8 - a rare play because it needs to be played in a group chat

  4. Darts - sure why not!

  5. Word Games - I can win easily if I’m playing against a man

R: READING

JUST READ: The Searcher: 2 stars (104/116 overall ranking)

This seems to be my boring book era. It really took a long time to get to the point of this book and once your figured out the point it took forever for it to get entertaining. I love a slow burn romance but perhaps I do not love a slow burn mystery. Bonus points to the book for mentioning Hozier and One Direction. The Ireland setting of it all.

Favorite Quote: “Cal feels like he ought to stand on a street corner handing out warnings, little pieces of paper that just say: Anyone could do anything.”

CURRENTLY READING: The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlyn Sterling

Another book I will be blindly going into but not because I randomly picked it but because it is a book club read. I appreciate book clubs for the yaps but also for broadening my horizons on books. I know we are not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover but I have to give props to a cool ass book cover.

E: EATING

Restaurant: Cava

The yappers already know about my love for Cava and my exact tried & true order. I was having a great week of continuing my trend of eating the food I already had in my pantry/fridge but I saw a girl at my apartment DoorDash Cava and I simply could not stop thinking about it, so I made it my Sunday reward. Honestly rewarding myself with something I was craving all week was incredibly satisfying. Might keep this trend up!

P: PLAYING

Music:

Although my music recap keeps it a secret, I did have an entire day dedicated to Little Mix this past week. The dedicated One Direction girls KNOW the Little Mix lore. ‘Shoutout to My Ex’ played in my workout class and it immediately took me back. America was not ready for an iconic girl group. They had soooo many boppity bops! I fully believe Little Mix did not receive the flowers they should have because America couldn’t handle their power.

Song Recommendation: Power by Little Mix

Podcasts: Girls Gotta Eat x Giggly Squad

Giggly Squad is a Yapple Sauce favorite podcast of course but I also listen to a similar vibe podcast: “Girls Gotta Eat.” Girls Gotta Eat is more relationship/sex/topic focused than Giggly Squad but what they both have in common are two “older” (they are not old just simply older than me) female friendships who laugh and don’t center their lives around men. Between the four women their relationship statuses all differ but it is truly refreshing to listen to them. The older sister vibe that I never got to have as the certified eldest daughter!

Television: It’s Always Sunny x Abbott Elementary

It finally came the Abbott Elementary crossover episode. Although I found out that there still will be another crossover episode whenever the next season of It’s Always Sunny comes out. Although the gang continued to be terrible individuals it was of course in a toned down way on Abbott Elementary. Charlie will forever be my favorite character and I’m now a big supporter of crossover episodes (the networks just need to check in with me to verify that I love both shows of course). I simply neeeeed to see Melissa at Paddy’s Pub in the next crossover episode.

Movies: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Sometimes you keep up to date on the latest films and sometimes you turn on a 1988 Steve Martin movie in the background and you end up giving it your full attention. Although the movie centers around two men it is 100% a girl boss film. I’m also always intrigued by the fact that Steve Martin has simply always had white hair and always looked the same.

Rating: 6/10

O: OBSESSED

General: Cyclebar

Never in my life have I been a work out loving gal. I wish I was the kind of girl who glistened with sweat after a workout but instead I look like a dirty tomato. And that is ok!!! Cyclebar has been the only workout I can stay true to for so many reasons.

1.) I feel like a badass for completing the classes

2.) The instructors are always so friendly and accepting

3.) I don’t feel like I am failing or being judged by modifying my workout

4.) It’s dark and no one needs to look at me

Pop Culture: Tarte Trip

Another Tarte Trip is happening and I cannot escape it on social media. There always seems to be something sinister about these trips. Maybe due to the insane amount of money clearly spent on a marketing trip for people with an insane amount of money. Tarte did give money to the LA fires thankfully but I feel it is time for Tarte to pivot with their marketing because the masses may be over influencer trips.

R: RECOMMEND: 2025 Bingo

For the foreseeable future I will be putting all of my goals in the format of a cute Canva Bingo card! I’m not even sure what my prize will be but I’m quite motivated to get at least ONE bingo. Last week I talked about New Year Resolutions not being lame and this is a way to go around the typical resolution route to make it fun & spicy!

T: TREAT: Mario Kart Girls Night

As hinted at in my rankings… I suck at games. Luckily I am not an overly competitive gal because winning is not my usual result…unless we are talking about Mario Kart. I’m not sure how it even happened considering I do not own a Nintendo Switch but I am pretty damn good at bringing my boy Yoshi into 1st place. I will jump on any opportunity to hang with my gals but it is even more of a treat to show off my random skills!

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Men Don’t Know How to Eat Popcorn

Men do not know how to properly eat popcorn. There I said it. This saucy take goes all the way back to my college days after sitting behind a large group of men eating popcorn at a baseball game. None of them ate popcorn in any type of normal manner. We had men pouring popcorn into their mouths. We had men shoving handfuls of popcorns down their throats. We had men eating popcorn in the same manner as my dog would! Women who are reading this: I encourage you to observe all men you encounter eating this salty snack. Men who are reading this: Ask yourself - why am I eating popcorn in a barbaric manner? Is it too feminine for you to eat popcorn like a civilized human being?

SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):

FINALLY someone else who watches the reelshort ads!!! homeless billionaire husband and whatever maid for my nemesis have sucked me in over winter break and even though the comment sections tell you how to watch the whole thing, i keep watching the same clips over and over hahahaha omg they are so bad they're good... are these people dating in real life?! is he into dudes?! i don't know, but they should be nominated for a yappie (if you decide to steal nikki glaser's gig and make your own award show)

Although this was not a story time, I needed to address that MANY people were on the same page as me with the Reelshort ads. Which made me feel much better about my questionable habit of watching 20 minute ads. Also manifesting that the Yappies is the next big award show!
