Influencer Era

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

In spirit of my 2025 BINGO card, I gave up fast food for the month of February. Yes I am aware it is the shortest month! But this past Saturday as I ate my second bagel of the day, I pondered if giving up fast food was truly the most difficult thing for me to give up. At the end of the day - I’m going to eat a goddamn bagel. This is an exciting Yapple week because there is a new portion under “Social Media Corner” AND speaking of social media… Yapple has a Tiktok. In our influencer era!

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Favorite Romance Movies (that probably reveal too much about my idea of love)

February is the month of treating yourself to romance movies!

  1. 10 Things I Hate About You - Nothing will ever top this movie for me - I’m not sorry! ENEMIES TO LOVERS! HEATH :(

  2. When Harry Met Sally - I watched this movie way too late in my life & it was instantly a favorite

  3. Love & Other Drugs - one thing I’m going to do while I watch this movie is…SOB

  4. Sleeping With Other People - underrated HIT and try not to fall in love with Jason Sudeikis after watching… impossible

  5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - a movie that shows the flaws of a relationship but yet the love is still beautiful and just such a creative concept for a story

JUST READ: The Storyteller: 4 stars (60/118 overall ranking)

Truly the only things I disliked about this book were the length, length of chapters, and the pacing at times. It was such an important and thought provoking read. I was heartbroken reading it. Also, I judge a book a LOT by the ending and this ending did not disappoint. Honestly hard to pick a favorite quote from this book because there were so many BANGERS and it was so beautifully written.

Favorite Quote: “Can you blame the Nazi who was born into an anti-Semitic country and given an anti-Semitic education, who then grows up and slaughters five thousand Jews? Yes. Yes, you can.

CURRENTLY READING: A Deal with the Devil by Elizabeth O’Roark

February is the month for mind-numbing romances so get ready for romance reviews all month long. I need a break from the serious! I just want to roll my eyes at over the top cheesiness and maybe add to my book boyfriend list!

E: EATING

Restaurant: Grimaldi’s

Sometimes all you need in life is a large pepperoni pizza (featuring Mike’s Hot Honey of course) to share with your gals and yap. Potential hot take: small pepperonis are superior to the normal sized ones.

Weirdly enough my personal photo of the recipe did not look like this but the taste did taste as good as this photo looks! Oh I will absolutely be remaking this! When I ran out of brie (because yes I have been eating this multiple days in a row) - I switched it up with fresh mozzarella. Although that was still great, brie is the superior cheese for this grilled cheese. May I suggest using a balsamic glaze (I use the Trader Joe’s one) as a dipping sauce for this beauty of a sandwich.

Music:

The Grammy’s happened this past weekend and spoiler alert that is the ‘Obsessed’ topic of this week BUT I have truly been on a Kenrick roll lately. Kendrick has always been a favorite of mine but his latest album ‘GNX’ has been HITTING lately. As a fellow hater, Kendrick is an inspiration to us all. The way that he swept the grammys with a diss track and then is going on to be the halftime show at the super bowl. If I was Drake… I’d be SICK.

Song Recommendation: luther - Kendrick Lamar ft SZA

Podcasts: Two Hot Takes

I can always count on ‘Two Hot Takes’ to give me a discussion worthy topic! In the latest episode they were talking about trips with couples/single people sharing airbnbs. Specifically with sharing rooms or even worse not getting a room/getting the couch or a shitty pull out bed. The hosts did not really give their opinion on the topic and were more discussing it. Personally, I don’t care who gets what room but if some people are getting rooms and some people are not… there should be a price difference. Now who gets priority to those room if everyone is down to pay more… I simply do not know and that probably depends on the situation but automatically giving priority to couples seems odd to me because if a couple needs THAT much priority perhaps consider a hotel on your own!

Television: Law & Order SVU

Every so often I get my high school television itch to watch Law & Order SVU. But my high school self and current self have very different opinions on the show. I remember watching it and loving Stabler and wanting him to end up with the QUEEN Olivia Benson. My goodness… I am happy that did not happen. Olivia Benson is still a queen but Stabler is quite literally the worst. I have no idea how I ignored the GLARING red flags. His character did not age well and he is the poster child for toxic masculinity. Olivia deserves better.

Last Week’s Poll Results: Majority of the yappers spend their birthdays in a rowdy manner with shots and cocktails with 44.4% of the votes. Second place was: obsessed with birthdays and the attention. Third place was: a solo and chill birthday. No votes for “new year, new me.”

Movies: A Complete Unknown

Prior to this movie, I knew little to no information about Bob Dylan but damn that man has some LORE. I really enjoyed this movie. I left the movie wanting to be in my folk music era! Timothee did a great job at mumbling as I had a hard time understanding what he was saying. Movies like this do give me insight into the attractiveness appeal to Timothee but then I remember Wonka and I’m right back to solely appreciating him as an actor and not by his sex appeal.

Rating: 8/10

O: OBSESSED

General: Valentine’s Aesthetic

There are plenty of valid criticisms about Valentine’s Day as a holiday but it’s hard to hate on the aesthetic when it is red/pink/hearts/cutesy/sexy vibes! As a single gal, I have been and will continue to embrace the Valentine aesthetic. I’m always down to feel cutesy and sexy.

Pop Culture: Grammys

There were so many things I LOVED about the 2025 Grammys. The outfits!? The girls SHOWED up this year. Everyone (no, not Joy Villa) looked AMAZING. The performances!? So fun and amazing. It is truly a shame that I will not be able to hear ‘Pink Pony Club’ for the first time ever again. That performance gave me CHILLS. Last but not least..the winners!? Did all of my absolute favorites win? No but that is ok! So many amazingly talented women got their flowers this year and that makes me so happy! Particularly obsessed with Beyonce, Chappel Roan, Charli XCX, Doechii, Kacey Musgraves, and Sabrina Carpenter (also Kendrick but was wanting to give the women their moment).

R: RECOMMEND: Book Club

Obviously I am a reading girly… but being in a book club makes me so happy! Because most of the time after finishing a book I just want to YAP about it and it’s so much more fun to talk (or shit talk) with others who know exactly what you’re talking about. If you don’t have a book club to join… simply start one because reading is IN and I guarantee there are other gals who want to join with you.

T: TREAT: La La Land Valentine’s Drink

This is a prime example of leaning into the Valentine’s Day aesthetic. A pink drink in a pink cup!? I usually go with the classic matcha at La La Land but knowing damn well I was receiving my drink in a pink cup, I spiced it up and got the Strawberry Fields matcha. To turn the treat into a solo date I also got an avocado toast (featuring burrata, pesto, and crunchy chili oil). I am often hesitant to purchase avocado toast because I can make a great one at home but La La Land gets the pass because it is top tier toast.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Holding Space

I feel like enough time has passed since the Wicked press tour and the “Holding Space” meme that I can speak my truth. I actually 100% understand what that interviewer meant by “holding space” in a non-ironic way. Maybe it is because the phrase has been added to my vocabulary but I have found myself using it and not joking at all. And I simply cannot think of any better word to describe the things I am holding space for.

SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):

So this isn’t scandalous but more just funny but last week i had an event for work where i was going to be photographed and my hair was looking a little dryyyyy so i decided to gloss my hair I got one that was my hair color or so i thought I used as directed on the bottle and it dyed my hair GREEN (yay) btw im a dirty blonde So now im panicking bc i have a work event and green ass hair, so I had to speed over to Walmart to get a clarifying shampoo which barely worked so then I had to dye my hair one color on top of all that so now I have dark brown hair and I legit just got it done in a salon two weeks ago.

I won’t put their photos or names on blast but I WILL put their personalities on blast. To the single people: you get it! To the people in relationships: this is why single people are single! Have an absurd profile or prompt from a dating app that you want to share? DM the Yapple Instagram to submit!
