Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,
A trip will solve all of your problems. Well it actually will not but it will definitely help. When I’m back in Chicago I feel it. It meaning happiness and freedom from the doom gloom of course.
xoxo, Hailey Girl
RANKING OF THE WEEK: Worst Things that “Covid” Took Away

It’s been six years and some things are still not the same
All Day McDonald’s Breakfast - I didn’t appreciate it enough while I had the chance
24/7 Walmart or any business - I rarely need to go to Walmart during odd hours of the night but I liked knowing that I could if I needed to
Regular Hotel Room Service - I don’t want to request for my towels to be cleaned

R: READING
JUST READ: Caught on Camera: 2 stars (186/196 overall ranking)
Not all my reads can be winners. This read was not it. It was very cringe and unrealistic. There was also no real conflict or build up which I feel are essential in ‘Friends to Lovers’ and ‘Fake Dating’ stories. The couple was just like, well I guess we are in love! The smut wasn’t horrible but I would not recommend this read.
CURRENTLY READING: Emma by Jane Austen

I’m excited to read my first Jane Austen book! This was the book club pick for the “From Book to Movie” theme. I haven’t seen the movie yet but this book also inspired Clueless which of course I have seen and loved.
E: EATING
Restaurant: Chicago Eats

It’s my trip restaurant round up time!
Alla Vita: A very cute and yummy Italian spot. I will particularly miss their bread and the pistachio gelato.
Triple Crown: We stayed in China town so of course we needed to get Chinese food. My problem was wanting to order the entire menu. I went basic with my order and it was very yummy.
Aba (pictured): I loved everything I ate. I will particularly miss the short rib hummus.
Labriola: I don’t tend to order spaghetti and meatballs out but that seemed like the correct move and I was quite a fan.
LUXBAR: Of course a brunch moment was needed! I got a very basic breakfast platter but I loved it. The bacon and hash browns did it for me.
Lou Malnati’s: I love deep dish pizza but not this deep dish pizza. It somehow managed to be flavorless.
P: PLAYING
Music:

Everyone wants to drop new music this year! I won’t complain because last year I was in a drought! Jack Harlow released his new album, Monica. I haven’t done my usual deep dive but the vibe is very different from his past albums. This album shifted to a slow and R&B vibe. As a fan of his more upbeat songs, this isn’t my favorite album but maybe it will grow on me!
Song Recommendation: Dance No More - Harry Styles
Podcasts: Giggly Squad
There are two types of girls in the world. Girls who full-body moisturize after showering and girls who do not. Paige is the first type of girl and Hannah is the second. As usual, I align more with Hannah. I respect someone who has the discipline to consistently lotion up their entire body after a shower.
Which one are you?
Television: Harry Styles on SNL

I usually catch the SNL highlights on TikTok but for Harry Styles I will be sat from the cold open until the end credits. I loved it all and the weekend update guests were my favorites. I like to think that they made sure to have good ones for my man’s Harry episode. I did not expect the songs he chose to perform but I was so excited to hear Dance No More and Coming Up Roses. Harry Styles - the man that you are.
O: OBSESSED
General: Patchwork Hat

I love treating myself to a girl’s trip souvenir especially when it involves some DIY! At Alice & Wonder, you picked out patches and then they pressed the patches on to a hat for you. What patches did I get? I’m glad you asked. I got a green heart that says “Chi,” a hot dog, an espresso martini, a siracha bottle that says “spicy,” and a pretzel.
Pop Culture: Oscars

That’s MY close and personal friend, Academy Award winner, Michael B. Jordan! I rarely see the movies that end up winning the Oscars but I can say that I saw Sinners. Did I watch the other nominees? No I did not. I did not need to after seeing Michael B. Jordan’s performance as Smoke & Stack.
R: RECOMMEND: Architecture Boat Tour

Go on the boat tour! Even if you are visiting Chicago when there is snow on the ground, go on the boat tour. Go on any boat tour in any city. I can’t vouch for them all but I haven’t gone on a boat tour or boat activity that I haven’t enjoyed. There was a woman on my boat tour from Chicago who regularly went on the boat tour of her own city and I was obsessed with her passion.
T: TREAT: Chicago Sweet Treats

This was a trip full of sweet treats as every trip should be!
Alla Vita: Pistachio gelato. I was sad that I couldn’t finish it because it was that good.
Triple Crown: Custard buns that I only ordered because they were decorated like pigs and were so cute.
L.A. Burdick (pictured): I don’t love a nut in a baked good. I was able to completely ignore the nuts in this cookie because the chocolate was top tier. I also got chocolates shaped like mice. Again, solely because they were so cute.
Lil Sweet Treat: A bulk Swedish candy store? Oh I’m obsessed and very sad that my bag of candy is coming to an end.
SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Grapes
I actually do not know if this take is saucy whatsoever. Well it may be saucy to the red grape lovers but green grapes are the superior grape. They might be better simply because they are more consistent. I love a red grape too but you never know how flavorful or crunchy they will be and those are the traits I like in a grape.
YAPPY HOUR: Friendships
I am a believer that your friendships are extensions of yourself. But then I think to myself a lot of my friends are very different from each other. I like to believe that my friends are extensions of different parts of my personality. I’m sure you can think of categories of your friends and link it back to yourself. I think that is pretty beautiful. Friendship is beautiful.

How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better
You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.
CBD users have long reported feeling calmer and sleeping better, whether taking the compound by itself or with related hemp-derived compounds like CBN and THC. But rumor isn’t research, so CBDistillery conducted two sleep studies: a 2021 study into CBD and CBN, and a 2023 study with technology app Releaf into CBD, CBN and THC.
Study participants who took CBD and CBN reported falling asleep easier and sleeping an hour longer per night, on average. Study participants who took THC as well as CBD and CBN reported improved quality of sleep and waking up more refreshed the next morning.
Want to experience better sleep and still wake up refreshed? Try CBDistillery’s sleep solutions for yourself and save 25% with code SLP25.
