Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

Yapple Sauce Edition 72 is the bonus present you probably were expecting. I hope you made it on the nice list but if you were naughty, I completely understand. Not only is this a Christmas Yapple edition, but it is the last Yapple Sauce of 2025. Happy Holidays to all of my favorite Yappers.

xoxo, Hailey Girl

R: READING

JUST READ: Fractured: 4 stars (58/181 overall ranking)

The second Will Trent book of the series and I liked it even more than the first! I feel like this series is just a dependable, crime thriller. Neither of these books have wowed me but they have both kept me interested and entertained.

The Plight Before Christmas: 4 stars (56/181 overall ranking)

I have read Christmas books before but this is the first year that I have but all my effort into the holiday reads. This one has been my favorite holiday read of years present and past. I think because this book just seemed like a regular romance read where it just happened to be set during Christmas time. There were a couple lines in the book that gave me pause (negative connotation) but other than that I very much enjoyed this read.

CURRENTLY READING: Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh

I needed to sneak in another holiday romance so the book ‘Holiday Romance’ seemed quite fitting! I love having off of work so that I can focus more on reading! In other important reading news, I did hit my Goodreads reading challenge goal! 70 books baby!

E: EATING

Restaurant: Guard & Grace

Yes, the carrot looks dramatic but it was also very tasty so we can let it slide. I love a nice restaurant experience because the service is top tier. Our sides were delayed, annoying but it happens. At Chili’s (a place near & dear to my heart), they would blame me, but at Guard & Grace they comped one of the sides and then brought out four (4!?) free desserts. I would have accepted that server’s marriage proposal on the spot.

Music:

Around Christmas time, Ella Fitzgerald IS going to make it on my top artists. It is time for a pop diva to grace us with a new Christmas album and I feel Olivia Dean would be perfect for the job. Her voice already puts me in a great mood. Lives could be changed by this hypothetical Christmas album. Olivia, if you can hear me, please.

Song Recommendation: So Easy (To Fall in Love) - Olivia Dean

Podcasts: The Broski Report

My dear friend, Brittany Broski was discussing Christmas aesthetics. There are many gorgeous vibes to go with but personally I align with Brittany’s favorite of a Kitschy/Cozy Christmas. I want the mismatched ornaments, the colors, and the homey/warm vibes!

Television: Bob’s Burgers

My favorite part about being caught up with a sitcom type show is getting to see the seasonal episodes at an appropriate time. This year’s episode was good but if I had to rank all of the Bob’s Burgers Christmas episodes it probably would not make the top 5. I may need to binge and rank them all for the Christmas season of 2026.

Movies: A Christmas Story

Yes, this movie is a holiday classic. I appreciate that but this movie doesn’t do it for me. Maybe because I’ve seen it so many times or I’m too young but ‘A Christmas Story’ does not resonate with me. But because my family (particularly my father) always puts this movie on, I stay watching it.

O: OBSESSED

General: The Nutcracker

Nuts were cracked! As a former dancer, it’s embarrassing to admit that I have never seen a ballet performance of the Nutcracker. Now that I have seen it, I feel it needs to be a staple in my holiday traditions. Forever impressed by ballerinas and the set design was TEA. The Barbie Nutcracker movie was my chosen Barbie movie as a child and the ballet gave me a deep yearning to revisit the movie.

Pop Culture: 2025 Pop Culture Wrapped

I’m just going to name off some things that may speak to you because yes they all happened in 2025: Labubu’s, Katy Perry in Space, KPop Demon Hunters, Sydney Sweeney’s Jeans, Coldplay CEO Cheating Scandal, 6/7, Louvre Heist, and JoJo Siwa’s straight era.

R: RECOMMEND: Dave & Buster’s

God forbid a gal get’s her competitive side out at the local Dave & Buster’s! I suck at nearly all arcade games but it’s still a good time.

T: TREAT: Dairy Queen Blizzard

Sometimes I forget how delicious Dairy Queen is. It’s one of the few places I am able to get something different every time I go. Pictured is my Sugar Cookie Blizzard. It felt right for the time of the year and I would indeed recommend.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is my least favorite major holiday. There, I said it! I don’t want to go out because 1). It is extremely crowded in a non-fun way 2.) Everywhere wants to charge extra just because it is December 31st and 3). There is a weird pressure. It is the one holiday I am happy to be at home with my people for!

YAPPY HOUR: Dreams

I’m sure I could look up the reasoning behind this but I find it so strange that it is such a chore to remember your dreams. I can actively feel my dreams slipping my memory while I try to recall them. Now my dreams are typically extremely boring and don’t need to be remembered but once in awhile I need to unpack what just happened in my brain.
