Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

My favorite word to use these days is ‘Whimsey.’ It is guaranteed to make at least one appearance in this newsletter. It could be the time of the year or just my current mood. I need you all to accept and embrace the word. Thank you!

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Best Fast Food Items

  1. McDonald’s Fries - you can’t out do the doer!

  2. Whataburger Patty Melt - this is the only item I get at this establishment

  3. Taco Bell’s Quesorito - I’m begging them to bring this back

  4. Chick Fil A’s Chicken Biscuit Sandwich - top tier breakfast

  5. Wendy’s Frosty - a sneaky top item but also my favorite fast food dessert

R: READING

JUST READ: The Fix: 3 stars (126/175 overall ranking)

The premise of this book was definitely intriguing and A LOT HAPPENED but I checked out after the first big event was solved to be honest. I also had to suspend my disbelief for much of the plot because it got a bit unrealistic at times. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it!

Resting Scrooge Face: 3 stars (143/175 overall ranking); Cruel Winter With You: 4 stars (85/175 overall ranking); Merry Ever After: 2.5 stars (152/175 overall ranking)

These are all Christmas short stories. I’m getting into the holiday spirit! Resting Scrooge Face was cute but I wasn’t invested in the couple. Cruel Winter With You I enjoyed and was rooting for the couple. Merry Ever After was just smut that didn’t even feel very Christmassy. Not a single candy cane was involved!

CURRENTLY READING: Merry Christmas You Filthy Animal by Meghan Quinn

Reading this book feels like I’m watching a cheesy Christmas movie and I love it! This is the sequel to a Grinch inspired Christmas book that involved candy cane smut. So obviously this book should be fun! Truly curious how we will incorporate Home Alone into this romance novel!

E: EATING

Restaurant: Angel Share

The whimsey of eating staple foods from childhood cannot be beat. It is hard to make corn dogs and chicken tenders to look aesthetically pleasing but just trust that they did their big ones in the taste department!

P: PLAYING

Music:

I attended a fabulous birthday party where the dress code was to dress like your child/teen icon or from that era in general. Obviously I had to channel my inner Kesha. While jamming out to her music I realized that there MUST be a Kesha to Charli XCX pipeline. I went directly down that pipeline. Kesha walked so Charli could run! Party girls rise up!

Song Recommendation: Hungover - Kesha

Podcasts: Giggly Squad

Well of course it’s a Giggly Squad topic! There is a reason it’s my favorite podcast. They discussed the state of Pigeons. I, like many, did not have any positive connotation with pigeons before knowing their LORE. Pigeons were initially domesticated by humans but as cities grew and times went on humans abandoned the pigeons. Now they are lost souls. They just want to be loved. I’m not personally going to domesticate a pigeon but I feel for them.

Television: SLOMW Season 3 Reunion

BOOOOOOO! Tomato Tomato Tomato. This reunion was a bunch of nothing. I didn’t want to repeat myself but STOP TRYING TO MAKE DAD TOK A THING. The fact that they kicked off the cast so they could have their moment. Stop it. I do not care. If they never spoke again, that would be fine with me. In general the host got zero juicy details and the whole reunion gave nothing. 12 hours of filming for that is wild.

Movies: The Housemaid

Don’t worry this review will not reveal any spoilers. I’m a nepo friend so I saw the movie early! Amanda Seyfried - Yay. Sydney Sweeney - Boo. All personal opinions on Sydney Sweeney aside she is just not a great actress and that did not change in this movie. The plot stayed pretty true to the book! I was definitely entertained by the movie.

O: OBSESSED

General: Accomplishment Cakes

I swear all I do on TikTok is cry for strangers but I am genuinely obsessed with the accomplishment cake trend. I love to see people succeed in all different avenues of their life. We need to celebrate our people more and this is such a cute way of doing that. I hope this sticks around for longer than a trend cycle!

Pop Culture: Pantone’s Color of the Year

As ridiculous as this color of the year is… it seems eerily fitting. I need to meet with the group of people who decided on this color. Was there anyone bringing up hesitations or did we all think it was a great idea for ‘Cloud Dancer’ to be the color of the year for 2026.

R: RECOMMEND: Ornament Painting

Crafting does not stop for the Holidays! Now this craft made me realize I’m not the best at painting small details but my Peppermint Pastries shop was cute enough to make it on my tree. Now when I look at my tree I have the memory of crafting with my girls!

T: TREAT: Newsletter Wrapped

Beehiiv (the platform you receive this fabulous newsletter from) sent out a newsletter wrapped. I was most proud that all of the Yappers together would fill up Comedy Cellar. I’ve been there before and I think it’s a pretty good sized crowd.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Snow is Important to Christmas Whimsy

There is a reason that all the best Christmas Movies are set with a snowy setting. Don’t get me wrong the Christmas spirit can be felt in all climates but as someone who has experienced Christmas with snow it just cannot be beat. I yearn for the snow on Christmas morning.

YAPPY HOUR: Research

Here is my research hard launch. The intended audience is straight men. Send it to the straight men in your lives. Send it to the men on dating apps. My hypothesis is that men who consider themselves “boob” guys voted for our current president in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m simply trying to find out if that is true (and hoping my research shows other results). I will present the results when I have a larger pool of participants. Hoping this research makes dating at least a little bit fun in 2026.

Meet the Best Alcohol Replacement of the Season

As the nights get colder and holiday gatherings fill the calendar, I’ve been craving a new kind of ritual—something warm, social, and feel-good, without the fogginess that often follows a drink. And this season, I found it.

Meet Vesper, Pique’s brand-new, non-alcoholic adaptogenic aperitif—and truly one of the most exciting launches they’ve ever released. Crafted with rare botanicals and science-backed ingredients, it delivers everything I love about a drink: the unwind, the mood lift, the sense of connection… just without the alcohol.

Each sip brings a soft drop in the shoulders, a gentle lift in spirit, and a clear, grounded presence. Sparkling, tart, and herbaceous, Vesper feels luxurious and intentionally crafted—perfect for holiday parties, cozy nights in, and an elevated start to Dry January.

Because it’s new (and already going viral), it will sell out fast.
