Edition 7

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

Another week, another slay. Even if your week was shit, your significant other is giving you the ick, or your hair is horribly greasy, the sauce will be spilled every Thursday to your inbox. If your hair happens to be greasy, we can all be grateful that the slicked back bun continues to be on trend. I’m not sure if Hailey Bieber knew what she was doing for the greasy hair community when she skyrocketed the popularity of this hair style but I can only thank a fellow Hailey girl. I hope we enjoy the new format. Trying new things out before the 10th edition surprise!

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK:

Obviously I’m ranking the hottest Disney princes & I will be taking personality into consideration.

  1. Flynn Ryder (I love a toxic and charming man)

  2. Naveen (He is just so pretty)

  3. Eric (Docked a point because I fear he would be taken aback by my yapping due to him falling for a girl who could not speak)

  4. Li Shang (there is just something about him)

  5. Kristoff (he can be my exception for blonde men

R: READING

JUST READ: The Women: 5 stars (18/97 overall ranking)

At first, I wasn't sure if I could really get into the historical fiction genre, even though the author had rave reviews. You can’t blame a girl for not getting excited about the Vietnam war. But, I'm so happy to say I was totally wrong. My go-to reading spot is the airport, and I couldn't put this book down once I was there reading the second half. To all my fellow feminists out there, this one's a must-read. The slow beginning? Totally worth it for the amazing payoff.

CURRENTLY READING: Brother by Ania Ahlborn

This book feels like it will be the start to my fall thriller/spooky book season. Although so far this is giving more thriller than horror so I will not check off “spooky book (thriller)” on my fall bucket list yet. It is seeming like we have a family of serial killers. While I can appreciate that they have something to bond over, I have a sneaking suspicion that it won’t work out well for someone.

E: EATING

Restaurant:

I hit up a few spots in Vegas, but Mon Ami Gabi is the winner hands down. If that photo doesn't make you wet, I'm officially confused. No shade to pancakes and waffles, but French toast is the breakfast queen. And to make it even better, this restaurant offered to spice it up with a side of bananas foster. Now, while my steak at Stanton Social Prime was a bit underwhelming, those French onion soup dumplings? Mind-blowing. Special shoutout to Chin Chin, where I devoured some peanut noodles that were so good, everyone liked my order more than their own. The ultimate restaurant flex.

Sips:

You might think I'm lying, but I swear on my martini addiction that every espresso martini I sipped in Vegas scored over a 9. Just when I was ready to throw in the towel on finding the ultimate espresso martini, Vegas swooped in and saved the day. My perfect espresso martini? It's got the perfect espresso-to-foam/cream ratio. And I don’t want to hear it if it doesn't come with three beans on top—those are non-negotiable for aesthetic purposes.

Also cannot forget the frozen Baileys from O'Sheas Pub. That concoction was nothing short of a religious experience. Imagine a more mature Wendy's Frosty, that got hotter with age. No gritty texture just pure, creamy bliss.

P: PLAYING

Music:

Addison Rae making it on my top artists of the week was not on my 2024 bucket list but here we are. Talk to me when you are mature enough to admit that Diet Pepsi is a certified bop. Although I did make my fall playlist, it seems my weekly music vibe is very much still in the summer mood. Feel free to send over your fall playlists as mine is still a work in progress. I tried to not over utilize the kings of fall music (Hozier and Noah Kahan) but I fear I must go back and add more of their songs.

Podcasts:

It’s shocking that I have not yet raved about the Broski Report. It is my favorite podcast probably because I relate to Brittany on a hardcore level. She is the funnier version of me and I gladly give her that crown. Going from niche rants to drawn out bits to emotional tangents is the content I crave. The latest episode: Love Island & Michelangelo does exactly that. I will get a little vulnerable with the yappers because listening to her get emotional while talking about being a good friend to herself and not focusing so much on her appearance made me cry with her. It was what I needed this week.

Television:

I have only watched two episodes of Kevin Can F Himself on Netflix so I don’t know how I feel yet about the show but the editing and concept is one of the coolest things I have ever watched. Bring back unique television and movies! It is about a couple and when the show is in the husband’s point of view, it is a sitcom with a laugh track about his ridiculous antics. When it is the wife’s point of view it is a drama about her horrible marriage. The craziest part is that you could see it being a genuine early 2000’s sitcom even though the husband is objectively horrible.

O: OBSESSED

General:

I was hesitant at first but I am into the camo trend. I never owned camo pants as a tween so this trend didn’t hit me in the nostalgia feels. Slowly but surely I have jumped on board. Chappel Roan’s “Midwest Princess” hat was when my feelings started to change (I yearn to own that hat). Kacey Musgraves has a camo crew neck in her tour merch that I love. Finally, in Vegas I purchased a camo “Las Vegas” hat. I enjoy camo in the cunty way, not the hunty way. Basically, I saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip flops, so I bought army pants and flip flops.

Pop Culture:

I’m sure most of us were aware of the Tianna Robillard and Cody Ford situation that happened over the summer. If you were living under a rock the low down is that Cody Ford (Guard for the Cincinnati Bengals) cheated on his fiance. They were both very active on social media afterwards but Tianna is up and Cody is down. I cannot comprehend the insane behavior of him LIVE STREAMING his reaction to her interview on Alix Earle’s podcast post break up. Leave the damn girl alone. He also gifted Tianna’s Begals jacket to his new girl. Trash. Fast forward to now and Tianna has a new man on the Minnesota Vikings (please re read that sentence while singing Truth Hurts by Lizzo). She not only upgraded to a better team but also a better looking man. There does seem to be drama surrounding him as well with his ex but from what I have seen it is giving a hurt ex-situationship brining the situation to tik tok. I hope Cody Ford is crying with his 0-2 team at the moment. I’m sorry Joe Burrow but the Bengals are losing because you have the curse of a bum on your team.

R: RECOMMEND

Out of Office (OOO) App

In my tech era by recommending an app to the yappers! This app is slept on and I’m here to give it the love it deserves. As a girl who love to travel, I’m automatically here for it, but honestly, it’s a gem for anyone who likes to explore new spots. Here’s the deal: you get to “recommend” your favorite restaurants and bars, and the app keeps track of them by location. You can also add them to a specific trip. Yes, you can search for hotels and experiences too, but let’s be honest—I’m here for the food and sips.

T: TREAT

Alright, so my go-to doughnut is the classic glazed—simple, sweet, and gets the job done. But let me tell you, those fancy-over the top gourmet flavors? They still hit. These gorgeous girls are from Saint Honore in Las Vegas. I went for the Creme Brulee and Nutella ones (the middle two). Shockingly, the Nutella one stole my heart, probably because the Creme Brulee's sugar crust was like trying to bite through sugary cement.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK:

Nine times out of ten I do not enjoy an epilogue in a book. If there is more story to tell; make a sequel. If it’s a romance book it’s the same thing every time: she is engaged, married, or has kids. So original… There are a handful of epilogues that I have genuinely enjoyed and ONE that I thought really brought the book together (Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez). Epilogues are simply unnecessary and one of my biggest book icks.

SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):

Am I the asshole for not taking the high road? I have a sister who is a long term relationship with an absolute loser. From what I know, she is happy but we are not close in that way. He is a loser in the sense that he sucks the life out of any room that he enters and seemingly has zero life outside of his relationship. If everyone is having a good time he will make sure to change that by complaining about his life and things he wishes he did in the past. After meeting me a handful of times (admittedly all the interactions were less than 10 minutes), I found out that he did not know my name but didn’t feel it was necessary to know. I truly do not know if he is stupid or if he was trying to be an asshole. You could simply ask your wife? It may seem like a small comment but since he does not care to know my name I do not care to speak to him. I know this is the petty approach but I do not feel like being the bigger person. I already did not like the man and now I find out he is being directly rude to me. I was not treating him poorly before I found this out but we never spent any quality time together. Now with the holidays approaching my family members are saying that I am going to make things awkward at family events. I never ignore him, I just do not initiate conversation with him. Am I ignoring him? No because he also does not speak to me. My sister deserves much better than him and although I know that I cannot control her life - am I the asshole for not initiating a better relationship with my sister’s loser boyfriend.
