Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

I get cravings like a pregnant woman. Once I have that food item on my mind, I cannot be stopped. The current it girl? Sweet potatoes of course. I have found myself on sweet potato tik tok. Don’t be surprised if a sweet potato recipe is featured soon.

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Cool Girl Spotify Wrapped Traits (and I’m not referencing myself)

  1. Having both mainstream and obscure artists in your top 5 - ok VARIETY

  2. Women was the majority of your wrapped - I can accept a couple of men but let’s not allow too many to slip in

  3. Your music listening age was old as hell - I just truly respect that

  4. There is something embarrassing in your wrapped and you still posted - Embrace the cringe

  5. You were in the ‘Full Charge Crew’ - Admittedly I have no idea what this means and it is simply the only one I know

R: READING

JUST READ: Educated: 5 stars

Wow just wow. I will think about this memoir forever. Tara’s story is so insane that it seems unreal. There were definitely parts of the book that were hard to read because they were hard to stomach but it was such a powerful story. I love a memoir about a powerful woman who makes it through hell and comes out stronger.

Favorite Quote: “I began to experience the most powerful advantage of money: the ability to think of things besides money.”

The Widow: 1 star (168/171 overall ranking)

I’m going to need authors to start evaluating if the page counts of their novels are completely necessary. I was bored to tears with this book. I simply couldn’t care less about any of the characters. Every character was insufferable and it was clear as day that this was written about a man for men. The craziest part is that even with such a boring plot, this book still managed to have an ending that was disappointing.

CURRENTLY READING: The Fix by Mia Sheridan

I find a lot of books that were not on my radar through Kindle Unlimited. Especially the ones that include an audiobook. So far this book is interesting and I’m intrigued to see where it goes.

E: EATING

I assume you are not living under a rock and know about Tini’s mac and cheese. I am here to tell you first hand that it is that good. It has been present at my thanksgiving two years in a row and will be a permanent staple dish.

Music:

Spotify wrapped is one of the most wonderful times of the year. I was most shocked by the lack of ‘Olivia Dean’ anywhere on my wrapped. I was least shocked by my top song because I predicted that would be it back in January. All of my top songs besides ‘Guess’ had previously been Yapple Song recommendations so obviously that one has to be added to the list.

Song Recommendation: Guess - Charli XCX ft. Billie Eilish

Podcasts: Giggly Squad

Hannah and Paige were discussing women not changing their last names in marriage…unless they were Polish. As a gal with a polish last name, I have never felt more seen. They thought they were offending people with Polish last names but I understood the sentiment on a personal level. A complicated last name forever becomes a bit that you do not want to be a part of.

Television: Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1

This will be spoiler free of course, do not fret! I do not feel positively about the holiday release schedule this season is on but I do feel positively that the last season will be a good one. Derek is a fabulous character and great addition. As usual the fourth (and last episode of Volume 1) was amazing and ends on a cliffhanger that makes me so excited for the next part.

Movies: Zootopia 2

I went into this movie with sequel expectations. Meaning that I knew it would not come close to comparing to the original movie but I loved the original movie so I was down to see it. Dare I say this was the best sequel Disney has come out with since Toy Story. This movie was amazing. I sobbed and I laughed. Highly recommend this movie.

O: OBSESSED

General: Depop

I sold a lot of my clothing on Curtsy previously but now I am trying out Depop. No sales yet but my goal is to stay on top of it because I have MANY clothes to get rid of. I will try not to become the stereotypical Depop seller who sells a “Vintage Forever 21” t-shirt for $50. If you are a Depop girly feel free to follow my account @hailey_marissa28.

Pop Culture: Miley Cyrus Engagement

Miley Cyrus is engaged to Maxx! We can only know so much about celebrity relationships (and that is for the best) but it looks like her sparkle is back and she has all the positive things to say about him!

R: RECOMMEND: 2025 Photo Collage

I have become hyper fixated on creating monthly collages on Canva to drop a 2025 recap on Instagram. This is my soft launch. I truly am the most sentimental gal you will meet and it just makes me so happy to go back and look through all my memories from this past year. I am far from a Canva pro but they have templates that make it pretty easy if you want to try it out for yourself.

T: TREAT: Spiced Up Bookclub

Book club is always a good time even without the spice but this month instead of everyone reading the same book, we all read different books with the same theme. The theme was ‘Banned Books.’ We then presented our banned books to each other. It was fun and included this incredible charcuterie board.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Driving in the Left Lane

I did a fair amount of driving this past week and noticed something very important. PSA before I give this take: I hate when someone is driving slow in the left lane. The left lane is meant for PASSING. BUT… there are a large amount of drivers who when they say they hate people driving in the left lane it is because they want to use the left lane as their own personal lane where no one is ever in front of them. I repeat.. the left lane is for PASSING. Your ass is just passing every single car ever? Interesting!

YAPPY HOUR: Instagram Update

Instagram, stop trying to make reels happen! I feel like you have a big enough audience with the people who deleted Tik Tok and you should just be content with that. Updating the app and updating nothing useful but instead switching the buttons around so now I keep opening up the Reels!? If you thought you were sneaky, you were not. Not once when I have accidentally opened reels have I scrolled. I just get annoyed and close the app.
