Edition 57

No Pulp

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

If you notice that the ‘Just Read’ section is more popping than usual, it is because I have started to listen to audiobooks on top of my usual Kindle reads. If I could read my kindle while driving I would but sadly I do not have that ability and, for the safety of myself and others, never will.

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Chain Pizza Places

  1. Domino’s - You've tried their stuffed cheese bread and you’re going to tell me it deserves another spot besides #1?

  2. Papa John’s - People complain that the sauce is sweet but I actually like that

  3. Pizza Hut - Out of the big three, they are definitely the weak link

  4. Jet’s Pizza - I’ve had it once. Not memorable but it still beats the #5 pick

  5. Little Caesar’s - #5 is too high. In any list, this is dead last. There are just not many widely known chain pizza establishments

R: READING

JUST READ: Evidence of the Affair: 5 stars (26/153 overall ranking)

Taylor Jenkins Reid. The woman that you are! How was she able to pack so much emotion and make me cry with a novella!? The book was simply letters going back and forth of two people dealing with their partners having an affair with each other. The ending was beautiful! Chef’s kiss!

Layla: 1 star (150/153 overall ranking)

I have nothing positive to say about this book. I spent the whole time rolling my eyes. The main character/narrator is the most INSUFFERABLE character I have ever been forced to root for. Spoiler alert: I was never rooting for him. He does all of these horrible things throughout the book and when the twist comes, the reader is supposed to forgive the horrible acts? Well, no! I would not recommend this book to my worst enemy.

The Fall Risk: 3.5 stars (86/153 overall ranking)

Another short story! It was a very cute Abby Jimenez romance with a serious plot line as well. I do think I would have enjoyed this book more as a longer book but no complaints!

CURRENTLY READING: The Vanishing Season by Dot Hutchison

The last book of this series! Two of the books I have really enjoyed and one was fine but boring. I hope this book falls in the more positive category. I love a detective story!

E: EATING

Restaurant: Bluestone Lane

I love a savory breakfast! This place had blueberry pancakes on their menu which were calling to me! Those are a childhood favorite. Even with that, I still had to go savory with a croissant breakfast sandwich. It was fabulous! My ideal partner is someone who will order something sweet at breakfast and then split with me! Although I’m always satisfied with my savory choice, the sweet will be in the back of my mind!

P: PLAYING

Music:

Well yes this vibe sounds about right because I have transitioned to my fall girl persona. What also screams fall are my CW shows like The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. Those shows had TOP TIER soundtracks. I cannot think of a show since those that had soundtracks that hit as hard. I do indeed have playlists dedicated to each of these shows.

Song Recommendation: Cut by Plumb

Podcasts: Henryhenryhenry on BNC

I am simply obsessed with this young man. He was recently on Brooke and Conner Make a Podcast and stole the show. This is my dream man. Personality and all! If you have yet to be introduced to Henry, you are welcome for this PSA because following him will only bring positivity to your feed. A friend of Brooke and Conner’s is a friend of mine.

Television: Presumed Innocent

Unfortunately I don’t know when or if I will finish this show due to my lack of Apple T.V. I watched the first few episodes on a plane. I am constantly being offered a free week/month of Apple T.V. but I’ve already used it so not sure if I can just repeat the offer. After the first four episodes, I am indeed hooked! I am truly unsure if this man is innocent or guilty but they sure do give you a compelling argument for both sides.

Movies: Lover Stalker Killer

Back to back documentary weeks! After last week’s documentary, the twist in this one was not as jarring but it is still a crazy story. One thing about documentaries is that they will make you feel quite normal. There are so many crazy people out there.

O: OBSESSED

General: Bulletin Board Craft

At this point, Yapple could have it’s own crafting section. Un-crafty yappers, fear not! These are the best craft suggestions for you because although I have the artistic vision…I struggle with the execution. If I can do it, I have all the faith that you can too! This board was made with foam insulation, fabric, staples, hot glue, and a dream!

Pop Culture: Taylor is the Bachelorette

The Bachelor franchise has done it! I swore off of this franchise after THAT season of Bachelor in Paradise (the one with Brendan and Piper). I had a realization that I simply could not stand the show. Well I will be watching for one more season and one more season only. Taylor Frankie Paul is good t.v. They threw a hail mary and it is going to work. Do I think Taylor is ready for this and it will end well for her? Absolutely not. Girly is not healed AND they are casting the men after she has been announced. Not sure if there will be a single man there for “the right reasons.” This may be the most dramatic season the Bachelorette has ever seen.

R: RECOMMEND: Exciting Hot Girl Walks (Solo)

Yapple Sauce has most definitely endorsed hot girl walks but all of those walks were with other people which automatically made them sexy and exciting! For me, solo walks are more difficult to get hyped about. Especially when you are walking in the Houston heat! My solution is to listen to an audio book and have a treat at the end of the destination. My latest hot girl walk treat is my treat of the week!

T: TREAT: Leemoo

Houston Erewhon DUPE!? This smoothie was indeed on the pricey side but it was not Erewhon pricey don’t worry. Here is the thing… it is DELICIOUS. This is the Sweet Escape which is Strawberry, Peach, Banana, Pineapple, Mango, Almond Milk & Orange Juice. I also got a chocolate covered date so this stop was the definition of a hot girl treat!

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Pulp

Of course everyone has their likes, dislikes, and preferences. I don’t like pickles but I can very much understand that is my taste and others have different tastes. I’m sorry but I do not understand a preference for pulp in your orange juice. You prefer to have bits and pieces floating in your drink? It doesn’t add any taste. If anything it adds texture to a beverage. Is that what pulp people want? Make it make sense!

SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):

I want to know what the Yappers are listening to in the gym! Rn I’m either listening to house remixes, pop girlies, or sad music.

Look out on instagram to submit you recommendations to this Yapper.
