Nostalgia Era
Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,
I am in a nostalgic mood these days. I want to have all the memories. A camcorder and journal have been recently purchased because my video of the day and iphone pictures just are not enough.
xoxo, Hailey Girl
RANKING OF THE WEEK: Weird Things Tik Tok Shop Has Tried to Push Me to Buy

R.E.P.O.R.T.
R: READING
JUST READ: Broken Country: 4.5 stars (31/150 overall ranking)
This book had a lot to offer. There was romance, betrayal, tragedy, and crime! I was sat! The ending was crazy and I did tear up at times during this read.
Favorite Quote: “Day in, day out, men are admired for their sexual prowess, for the “conquests” notched upon their bedposts. Whereas women, who dare to do the same, are derided, and most often, it is other women dishing out the derision.”
CURRENTLY READING: Curvy Girl Summer by Danielle Allen
![]() | Unfortunately it is not really summertime anymore. But I have to deal with how Libby delivers a book to me! I’m ready for a spicy romance after my last read. |
E: EATING
Restaurant: Marmo
![]() ![]() | My last stop of Houston Restaurant Weeks was Marmo. I had a fabulous Bruschetta and Chicken Parmesan. Not pictured is my desert which was Olive Oil Cake. I felt it was the perfect time to try it because it felt like it was free (it wasn’t). The verdict is in: It’s alright. I probably would not get it again. The gelato and sauce that was with it was necessary to make it taste good. On it’s own it was just alright. It wasn’t disgusting but that is a pretty low bar for desserts. |
P: PLAYING
Music:
![]() | Olivia Dean has been speaking to me lately! Her songs make me want to sway in the wind while wearing a sexy dress. That is the only way to describe it. She is performing at Austin City Limits and I’m so excited that I discovered her music beforehand. Song Recommendation: Man I Need by Olivia Dean |
Podcasts: Podcast Rebrands
![]() | Two of my regularly listened to podcasts have released major news about rebranding. Binchtopia is losing one of their hosts, Eliza. Celebrity Memoir Book Club is scrapping the memoirs and becoming a pop culture podcast. I will continue to listen to Binchtopia and hopefully it still hits. I’m so curious how it will be without her. I am not caught up with Celebrity Memoir Book Club, but when I finish the memoir episodes - I do feel that will be the end of my listening. I hear plenty of pop culture from my other podcasts. |
Television: Long Story Short
![]() | An adult cartoon hates to see me coming! They are my guilty pleasure. Especially when they are created by the same people who brought us Bojack Horseman. The show is about three siblings and different parts of their life. It did not hit the same as Bojack but I was entertained! Max Greenfield plays one of the siblings and all I could hear was Schmidt. |
Movies: Unknown Number: The Highschool Catfish
![]() | If you have not watched this yet, what are you doing? Especially if the ending has not been spoiled for you. You will gasp. It is about a high school girl who is getting harassing text messages for about two years. If you are like myself you are probably wondering how that can be a crazy documentary but it indeed is. Trust me! |
O: OBSESSED
General: Clay Magnets
![]() | I am truly so proud of my clay magnets! I made these! Now I did go to an event where I was given all of the supplies which made things much easier but I feel like an artist! My take away from this art project is that oven bake clay is much easier to use and mold than air dry clay. |
Pop Culture: Cardi B Trial
![]() | Every video I saw of Cardi B’s trial led me to wonder why on earth there was a trial. Why are we having questioning about her wigs and nails? Cardi was cleared on her charge and maybe everyone in the court just wanted to know the secrets of being a baddie. |
R: RECOMMEND: Byoma Milky Toner
![]() | NOT SPONSORED! But if you want to hit me up Byoma, I love your product. I figured since I now have a facial membership, I should go all out with my my skin care routine. I am going to figure out how to get perfect skin if it’s the last thing I do! I recently added this to my skin care routine and my skin is SOFT. One step closer to perfect skin! If you have skin care recommendations, please share on the Yapple instagram. |
T: TREAT: Matcha and a Sweet Treat
![]() | This is the ULTIMATE combo! If everyday I got a iced matcha latte and a sweet treat, I would be happy for the rest of my life. Especially because lately I have had intense cookie cravings. That may be due to the new NYT’s game Pips. When you get a good score they add a cookie emoji and therefore I am being reminded that I deserve a cookie! |
SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Too Cool for Themes
People who believe they are too cool for a theme…annoy me. Especially since Halloween is approaching, I’m not ready to see the half-assed costumes. I do not mean that people who don’t spend a ton of money on their costume aren’t trying. But I do mean if you wear all brown and say you are an espresso martini… ok? Everyone has their own preferences and if you hate a theme or hate to dress up just don’t show up!
YAPPY HOUR: Fantasy Football
Fantasy football season is upon us. My teams are both named “Serving Punt.” Last year my teams were BRAT and Football Kens. Fantasy football is against my brand but it’s fun to get a little competitive! Not to brag but I have played fantasy football three times and have won twice!
