Help! I forgot the Apple dance
Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,
I am on sorority Tik Tok. I have no one to blame for this but myself. One too many chapters are doing 2016 themed spirit days. Which is terrifying in itself but then they are all dressing in Chevron? 2016 was chokers! Snapchat filters! The green jacket! The cross-stringy top! 2016 needs to be properly remembered in the history books.
xoxo, Hailey Girl
RANKING OF THE WEEK: Disney Channel Miniseries

R.E.P.O.R.T.
R: READING
JUST READ: Along for the Ride: 3 stars (104/147 overall ranking)
This book would have hit so hard if I read it 10 years ago. It was a very well written coming of age story! I personally wanted to fight both of the female main character’s parents. The mom had some redeeming qualities, the dad on the other hand…
Cross Roads: 4 stars (53/147 overall ranking)
Breaking news: I read another cowboy romance book! I’m not sure what the secret ingredient is to make a book addicting is, but this book had it. I read it so quickly and ate it up the entire time.
Helpmeet: 1 star (146/147 overall ranking)
So this was not for me. Luckily it was probably the shortest book I’ve ever read. It was gross and boring. In the last ten minutes some plot started to stir up, but then it was too late. The book was over!
CURRENTLY READING: The Silent Bride by Shalini Boland
![]() | I know fall is around the corner! Not because the weather is getting cooler because that is definitely not happening but because I have an itch for thriller books. The first chapter in and I’m hooked. She is walking down the aisle to her husband and half way down she realizes there is a different man waiting to marry her. |
E: EATING
Restaurant: Lazy Dog
![]() | Before I get into my burger, I have to laugh at my side of fruit being just a large chunk of watermelon. I truly had to use my knife and fork to get into that thing. I ordered the Peanut Butter and Jelly Burger. Before you tell me EW… it was FABULOUS. It wasn’t my first time having a PB&J burger and it won’t be my last. I just trust that a weird combo with food at a restaurant will be good. I’m not the culinary expert! I trusted the experts and it is indeed a great combo. Don’t knock it before you try it! |
Recipe: Breakfast Burrito Meal Prep
I am set for quite some time with this meal prep! Now Babs uses refried beans for her burritos. Per my sister’s recommendation, I switched that out for Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage. Specifically the maple sausage. I promise you will thank me later for that.
P: PLAYING
Music:
![]() | Taylor Swift announced her 12th album. I’m happy for the Swifties…but they are just such a well fed fanbase! I am still waiting on ANY of my divas to release new music. I was recently listening to Apple by Charli XCX and felt myself forgetting the apple dance! I never even formally learned the apple dance but since I was so locked in on BRAT tik tok, my body just knew! I am begging any of my artists to release new music because I am ready. Thank you Chappell for releasing ‘The Subway,’ I will take what I can get. Song Recommendation: The Subway by Chappell Roan |
Podcasts: Brooke and Conner Make a Podcast
![]() | I agree entirely with Brooke and Conner’s take that Oysters look gorgeous but they also disgust them. Brooke, Conner, and I have no desire to eat oysters. Sue me! I once was told that I look like I would enjoy oysters and I took that as a compliment because they are truly so chic. I give you props if you are about the oyster life. I just cannot join that journey. |
Television: Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated
![]() | Yes… I am locked in to watching this Scooby-Doo series on Netflix. I have a soft spot for this franchise and honestly this show is pretty good. My only problem with the show is that I’m almost positive that this show was written by a man based off of how Velma and Daphne are written to lose themselves over men. I’m willing to look past that for the mysteries of it all. |
Movies: Along for the Ride
![]() | You might be tired of readers saying, “the book was better.” But that is because the book is typically better! I’m not sure why tv/movie adaptations have such a difficult time getting it right. This movie made me appreciate the book more. If I hadn’t read the book, I could have seen this as a decent, cheesy Netflix romance, but it was too late for me. Immediately after seeing the trailer, I knew this book was going to focus on the romance aspect way more than the book did. The book was about the female lead finding herself while the movie was about her being down bad for a man she hung out with from time to time. Rating: 4/10 |
O: OBSESSED
General: On Theme Book Club Parties
![]() | Not every book has an obvious theme for a real life party but when you read a book featuring a hot dog party it seems like fate? Although I enjoy every book club gathering, this one was my favorite. I’m not sure if it is possible to only pick future books with hot dog parties featured in the plot but I would love to do that. |
Pop Culture: Ben Platt’s Diet Pepsi
![]() | Las Culturistas Culture Awards is the award show we all were yearning for. Without it, we would have never gotten Ben Platt’s Diet Pepsi cover. I’m not even a musical theater girly and this cover sends me into another dimension. It’s almost like Ben just understands girlhood. |
R: RECOMMEND: Sticker Books
![]() | I love coffee table books. I love stickers. I have anxiety. Obviously I have zero faith in myself that where I put my sticker will be the correct placement. I decided that I would find a cute journal and make it my sticker book. I have way too many stickers to keep them hidden away. They are now featured in my DIY sticker book. Of course I could have purchased an actual sticker book with the special paper but that just did not do it for me in the aesthetic department. |
T: TREAT: An Obnoxious Tasty Drink
![]() | I’ve been to Verde Garden a handful of times and I’m upset that this was my first time ordering the Cafe de Olla margarita. It tasted nothing like a marg and everything like a Frappuccino. It was fabulous. After this I was out to the bars and ordering my boring vodka soda but at dinner? That is the time to treat yourself with an obnoxious and fun drink! I’m not ordering fajitas so I might as well order a drink that will make people turn their heads. |
SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Alex Warren = Benson Boone
PSA: I am not a particular fan of either of these artists or their music. No hate but also no love. As an outsider, I am very curious about Benson Boone being hated on by everyone but Alex Warren being loved by everyone. They sound the exact same, just a different font to me. Is it truly the back flip of it all that turned the people against him? While I don’t listen to either of their songs, I’d be more privy to tune in to Benson.
SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):
Okay-- hear me out. I love the Savannah Bananas for so many reasons. Number 1, I lived in Savannah for my ~formative years~ and at the time the Savannah Bananas were called the Savannah Sand Gnats. Boring, unremarkable, it was something to do but meh. Then comes 2015-- the Savannah Sand Gnats get a facelift in the form of a mascot change and everyone is confused but LFG??? I guess??? (not really sure who is picking the mascot for the Sav teams bc they now also have a hockey team called the ghost pirates) Now, tiktok wasn't a thing in 2015 but vibes were HIGH and now the games are way more fun. I think the allure online is that they are hot and do silly dances ofc but also (not to get philosophical but) I think people love seeing these guys act silly, goofy, fun bc men are sooooooo serious and boring. AND if you're a LOCAL its fun to see how they've grown. That's all!! Thanks for coming to my history lesson!
