She's Backkkkkk

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

I hope you enjoyed your quiz while I was away! As promised, Yapple is back like I never left! My souvenir that I brought back for the yappers is all the Portuguese content! Also this past week was my half birthday so celebrate accordingly. Did you miss me? Because I missed you.

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Ways to Spend Time in an Airport

  1. Reading while sipping on your chosen beverage - Nothing better I fear

  2. Going to a restaurant/bar - I have only done this when I have lots of time to spare (like 12 hours at London Heathrow Airport for example)

  3. Sit/Relax - For the people not cool enough to engage in #1 I guess

  4. Sleep - It’s not going to be comfy but sometimes it must happen

  5. Shopping - I mean someone has to be doing it because every airport has ample shopping opportunities

R: READING

JUST READ: Out On a Limb: 5 stars (6/143 overall ranking)

Oh yeah I have a new romance book to obsess about! This is why I keep reading this genre despite there being so many flops. For gems like this! This author can WRITE banter. I was locked in. The main male character, Bo!? Immediately yes.

Favorite Quote: “The idea of having a constant supply of ice is making me a bit emotional.”

James: 3 stars (103/143 overall ranking)

This book gives the perspective of Jim’s story from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I realized while reading this book that I paid more attention in English class than I thought because I remembered a lot of the plot points. Not a bad book but I did feel like I was reading a book for English class.

Favorite Quote: “A man who refused to own slaves but was not opposed to others owning slaves was still a slaver, to my thinking.”

CURRENTLY READING: All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker

Pro: The chapters of this book are extremely short, so you feel like you are reading the book super quickly.

Con: This book is still extremely long and I am not reading this book super quickly. I’m also wondering where on earth this book can go from where I’m at.

E: EATING

Restaurant: Restaurants in Portugal

Not to be THAT person but my restaurants of the past week have indeed been various places in Lisbon. I didn’t have anything bad there! But this sandwich? YUP!! I’m going to think about it for the rest of my life. The man at this stand also gave me a COLD water. If you’ve been to Europe you know that that is like striking gold.

After trying this in Portugal, I was told it was easy to make. It was indeed easy to make. Yes, the link is not in English but Google translate will translate the entire website for you so no worries. It basically is a bread loaf stuffed with cheese, meat, and other tasty things.

P: PLAYING

Music:

Sometimes you are at the stage in your cycle where you start crying to Billie Eilish. That seems reasonable to me because the girl has some heart wrenching songs. I mean just the mere thought of her song in the Barbie movie will start the waterworks for me.

Song Recommendation: Ocean Eyes - Astronomyy Remix - Billie Eilish

Podcasts: Brooke and Connor make a Podcast

One thing about me is I love to hear other people hating on Chat GPT. It can get exhausting being a hater and I need other people to chime in. Brooke and Connor gave my favorite take on Chat GPT I’ve heard thus far. It is two dumb bitches telling each other “exactlyyyy!”

Television: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

It’s back! This show is on season 17 and I still love it. So far four episodes have been released and there haven’t been any that I didn’t laugh at. The first episode of the season is their perspective of the Abbott Elementary crossover episode. I loved seeing the Abbott crew in a raunchy manner.

Movies: Am I Ok?

I have such mixed emotions about this movie. At first I thought I was going to hate it because so much of the dialogue was very cringe and not landing at all for me. Once I got into the plot, I did enjoy the movie. It’s also an extremely short movie, so even if you don’t like it, you don’t waste too much of your time.

Rating: 6/10

O: OBSESSED

General: World’s Oldest Operating Bookshop

Of course I love a book shop! I primarily read on my Kindle, yes but there is something so special about a bookshop. I wasn’t aware that Lisbon had the oldest one before going there! They even stamped your books saying it’s from there! The stamp is in Portuguese so my brain does not know what it says, but my heart knows!

Pop Culture: Charli XCX Married

It’s a BRAT wedding. What I would have done to be invited to this event. I’m sure it was messy in the most fun way. Only Charli can look so iconic on her wedding day! Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. BRAT.

R: RECOMMEND: Customized Perfume (Anything)

I truly just love anything customizable! Because it is so yours! I went to Next Memory in Lisbon and customized a pressed perfume. I’m not going to lie I might like the story/process more than I like the product. There is just something so chic about a little pressed perfume case with your initials.

T: TREAT: Pastel De Nata

I had too many of these suckers to count while in Portugal. They are just so yummy and truly a shame that they aren’t easily obtainable in the United States. I would love for a pastel de nata to accompany my matcha lattes at a coffee shop. It truly is the perfect sweet treat. Petite and tasty.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Fruit

I know there is a technical way to tell if a fruit is a fruit. I know that a tomato is technically a fruit. I just ignore all of that and go by one simple rule. Would it be jarring if that food was in a fruit salad? If the the answer is yes… that food is not a fruit TO ME. Imagine if I was in charge of bringing a fruit salad and I bring a mix of Strawberries, Watermelon, Pineapple, Tomatoes, Peas, Olives, and Green Beans. You would be pissed and confused. Exactly.

YAPPY HOUR: European Tits

I’m just here to report the facts. If you thought your chest got stared at often in America, those will be rookie numbers compared to abroad. Now I only was in Portugal, but there were many Europeans on holiday there, so I feel I got a good sample size. It made me wonder, are boobs not a thing across the pond?
