Edition 50

Pausing my Feminism

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

This is the last Yapple Sauce edition before I go abroad in Portugal for a week! While I won’t be able to send you the usual edition next week there will be something else exciting in your inboxes next Thursday. Bonus content! Edition 51 will be back on July 31st. Don’t miss me too much!

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Music Videos that Altered My Brain Growing Up

  1. Toxic - Britney Spears (They just don’t make music videos like this anymore)

  2. Come Clean - Hilary Duff (Hilary Duff invented being dramatic in the rain)

  3. One Time - Justin Bieber (There is nothing special about this music video, I just wanted to be that girl so badly)

  4. Say OK - Vanessa Hudgens (Everyone remembers Sneakernight but I remember the music video featuring Zac Efron)

  5. La La Land - Demi Lovato (It was the pink wig that’s ingrained in my memory)

R: READING

JUST READ: Wild & Wrangled: 3.5 stars (74/141 overall ranking)

This book was so close to being a 4 star read but I had to dock a half star because of the ending. Not because I didn’t like how the book ended (I mean - it’s a cowboy romance book). The third act fight was truly so ridiculous. Unfortunately I also liked the male character wayyyy more than the female character. How is the author going to make the female character the problem in the past and future!?

TROPES: Second Chance Romance; Cowboy Romance

CURRENTLY READING: Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young

I’m IMMEDIATELY tuned in to these characters’ banter. I feel like it can be difficult for me to believe the banter in a book. It takes a good author to pull it off properly! If nothing else this book will have that but I’m excited to read more.

It should be noted that good reads has once again refused to update their app in a genuinely useful way but updated their logo…. thanks!

E: EATING

Restaurant: Crepeccino

Don’t let a meal stop you from getting the dessert that you really want. None of the meals at Crepeccino were speaking to me so I ordered a broccoli cheddar soup with my crepe. I was right to not focus on the meal because the soup honestly sucked. The crepe though!? It was as delicious as it looks.

P: PLAYING

Music:

While jamming out to 3O!3 on a road trip, I was reminded that there are songs that I need to pause my feminism for. Does this song stand for what I believe in? Absolutely not. Does it make me want to shake ass? Ya:/ So I have no choice to just unplug my feminism for a quick few minutes.

Song Recommendation: DONTTRUSTME - 3OH!3

Podcasts: Giggly Squad

I just wanted to updated the Yappers that I have successfully caught up with the backlog of Giggly Squad. It was worth all the time and effort. There was a recent episode that I could not relate to more where Paige was discussing how difficult it is to date with a best friend. You just compare every man to her and keep bringing her up. I genuinely don’t think I have gone on a singular first date without bringing up my best friend. It feels like the mean girl quote: “I was a woman possessed. I spent about 80% of my time talking about Regina and the other 20% of the time I was praying for someone else to bring her up so I could talk about her more.”

Television: Building the Band

LIAMMMMMMMMM. Has anyone else been watching this show on Netflix!? I feel like I haven’t heard anyone talking about it even though it is on Netflix’s top shows. I genuinely love the concept. It’s like The Voice, Love is Blind, and The Circle had a baby. I have only seen the first two bands form but I’m hoping that the bands stick together and this isn’t another show where no one makes it big afterwards.

Movies: Hercules

Sometimes I report on the new movies, sometimes I report on Disney classics. This is an underrated disney movie and is in my top 5! The soundtrack is insane. Did I watch this movie this past weekend at a bachelorette? Yes I did because we have great taste. It feels wrong to rate a Disney classic but if you haven’t watched this movie, what are you doing?

O: OBSESSED

General: Art Museums

I am not even close to being knowledgeable about art but I can definitely appreciate art. I have discovered I most appreciate an oil canvas. Contemporary art isn’t my jam. Sorry I don’t understand a painting of one color and I’m willing to admit that. The roman statue art though!? That was a new one for me and I was simply (as the title implies) obsessed.

Pop Culture: Daddy Pete Davidson

Pete Davidson is going to be a father! Wait - Did you not know he was in a new relationship!? Ya I didn’t either. They have been together for 6 months. Despite their Mormon Wives timeline, I hope it works out for them. Pete’s dating history is truly one for the history books.

R: RECOMMEND: EF Ultimate Break

I am going to Portugal with EF Ultimate Break with girls that I met on a previous EF trip to Iceland. They plan an itinerary for you with flights, hotel, and even some meals. The parts of the company that were most appealing to me was meeting other travelers and paying on an interest free payment plan. Make the trip seem free!

T: TREAT: Fruit Matcha

Matcha has been having its moment, which makes me very happy because more coffee shops have it available. I have always been a standard iced matcha gal but with all the new flavors, it is hard to pass up! Let me tell you these strawberry and blueberry matcha drinks I had this past weekend!? TOP TIER. I am quite sad that they were in a city 3 hours away and not easily accessible.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Hiking

It is official. I am not a hiking girl. Now I had a strong feeling this was going to be the case because I am afraid of heights. I went on my first real hike this past weekend and I hope it was my last one. I would just rather go on a walk. Yes the views are incredible but at what cost!? Here are my hiking stats for the Yappers: 2 falls, 1 panic attack, and 1 puke. A personal record.

YAPPY HOUR: Heads Up 7-Up

Please tell me everyone remembers THE game of heads up, 7-up. I’m not sure why 7-Up got any promo in that game title because it is truly irrelevant besides the rhyming aspect. It was low-key a childhood dating game though. Who you picked had serious social implications. Then you had to pretend like you didn’t know who selected you after very much cheating and looking at their shoes. We were social scheming in elementary school before we even knew it.
