Father's Day?

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

I shouted out the mothers before so I should also shoutout the fathers. But honestly, social media was willing to let me forget Father’s Day was happening. Usually my entire feed is filled with fathers who will never see their child’s post but this year it was a rare sighting. 2025 is not the year for the dads I guess!

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Things I Took Too Seriously as a Child

  1. Tiger Woods’ Cheating Scandal - I knew too much of this lore as a middle schooler

  2. Having the Lights on in the Car - I’m still under the impression that this is illegal and I’m too scared to fact check this

  3. Quicksand - every television show and movie lead me to believe this was a problem lurking around every corner

  4. Tsunamis - yes this is a serious matter but maybe not for a kid in Minnesota

  5. The Bermuda Triangle - really have not thought about it at all as an adult

R: READING

JUST READ: In Five Years: 3 stars (90/136 overall ranking)

I have such mixed feelings about this book! I wanted to love it but there were aspects of it that bothered me. For every part of the book I loved, there was a part I disliked. I also have a hard time with books where I dislike the main character. Now I did not fully dislike the main character, but she was on thin ice.

Favorite Quote: “I imagine being pregnant. Shopping in this store for my own tiny creation. It makes me want a cocktail.”

CURRENTLY READING: Tame the Heart by Ava Hunter

I am choosing to share the version of this book’s cover that does not have a couple kissing on the front. I need books to not do that! Like yes, I’m reading a cheesy romance book but let’s make it a bit more subtle please.

E: EATING

Restaurant: Maven

I went back to Maven for brunch and it was very good. I almost never get the egg ick but I am finding if I get a sunny side up egg that is not cooked perfectly, I get the egg ick. Perhaps it is time I remove sunny side up eggs from my roster but when they are done right they are great. My favorite way to have eggs? Poached. I will be taking no arguments on this opinion.

P: PLAYING

Music:

Not too be an ungrateful fan, but I need some of my favorite artists to get back into the studio! I feel like I am in a new song recession. If Lorde can do it, so can everyone else. I am particularly looking at Harry Styles, Noah Kahan, and Olivia Rodrigo. Your time is up! I am craving new music.

Song Recommendation: Satellite by Harry Styles

Television: Love Island

Don’t get it twisted because I am not watching Love Island. It’s not that I don’t want to, I just physically cannot keep up. I have respect for all the yappers who keep up with this show because it is a full time job. Luckily I am on Love Island tik tok which does enough for me to keep up with a conversation about the show. What I’m most gagged by on this show? Ariana’s outfits as the host. Genuinely jaw dropping.

Movies: Materialists

I’ve heard mixed review on this movie but I’m here to report that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. We as a society have been needing a good rom-com! Did I immediately know how this movie was going to end? Yes, of course! That is what makes it a classic romance movie. Love watching beautiful people on my screen!

Rating: 8/10

O: OBSESSED

General: Bubble Bath

I am not of the opinion that a bubble bath and face mask are the end-all, be-all self care items BUT they still hit! Lately my body has been in shambles and I just needed a face mask and bubble bath moment. The only thing that would have made it better is if I wasn’t so afraid of getting my Kindle wet and could have read my book.

Pop Culture: Justin Bieber Crashout

Justin Bieber is very publically going through it and I hope he is ok. Now I hate paparazzi as much as the average person but his latest paparazzi video gave me a phrase that I must add to my sayings. Catch me using “It’s not clocking to you that I’m standing on business” to anyone who cannot see my vision!

R: RECOMMEND: Lush

Now, I did not get any of the fun looking products in this picture but I had to take a moment to appreciate the aesthetic of it still! I have been meaning to do a Lush haul and here is what I got:

  • Sticky Dates Shower Gel - It smells so good!

  • Scrubee - An exfoliator and moisturizer for the shower (it also smells amazing and is super cute!)

  • Mrs. Whippy Fresh Mask - Lush employees are always the most kind people on earth so I had a worker recommend a fresh face mask for me and we landed on this one

T: TREAT: Cookie Cake

We as adults have free will and I used my free will to purchase a slice of cookie cake at the mall! My mall treat is typically soft pretzels but I was in the mood for something sweet. Cookie cake used to be my jam as a child who didn’t love birthday cake. There is something about a cookie cake that just hits differently than the average cookie. Perhaps it is the pie shape?

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Bad Jokesters

I like to consider myself a funny person (sorry to brag) but there are some ways of joking that get on my last nerve. The worst offender is people who say something rude or serious but laugh after saying it. The laughter does not make it a joke. It was just not funny and maybe leave the jokes to the funny people. Also there are people who know how to joke but don’t know how to follow a bit. They make a joke, I go along with their joke, and then they say “I was joking.” Yes we know and I am joking with you!!

YAPPY HOUR: Boneless vs. Traditional Wing Debate

Here is the thing. I like both of them. Yes I agree that boneless wings are saucy chicken nuggets, but that doesn’t make them not delicious. For the wing stop of it all - I prefer boneless because I don’t trust their traditional wings. For any other wing place, I am team traditional wing.
