Embarrassed Yappers
Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,
Sometimes a theme finds the newsletter without me even trying! It is probably very obvious from this week’s edition that I am easily embarrassed. Although I do support the notion that a little bit of social anxiety is good for everyone, I YEARN to not care about embarrassment. To the extroverted yappers - how do you do it!?
xoxo, Hailey Girl
RANKING OF THE WEEK: Things that Shouldn’t Feel Embarrassing but Are
![]() |
|
R.E.P.O.R.T.
R: READING
JUST READ: Flirting with Disaster: 4 stars (59/135 overall ranking)
It was a very cute and easy read! Although it was full of the usual romance book tropes, it was still a unique book. I was rooting for the couple which does not always happen with me and romance books.
The Summer Children: 4 stars (51/135 overall ranking)
Yes I finished two books in a week because I am back on my summer schedule of reading! This is the third book in a series that starts off with ‘The Butterfly Garden.’ They are all on Kindle Unlimited and I recommend this series for the thriller yappers! The second book was not as good but the first and third were crazy FBI cases.
Favorite Quote: “Even when something’s wrong, the ending of the thing hurts.”
CURRENTLY READING: In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
![]() | I do need to note that I am obsessed with the cover of this book. Although I am renting this book from the library on my kindle, it still deserves recognition. The plot of this book is very intriguing. A gal that has everything figured out in her life has a dream/premonition that in five years (hence the title), her life will be completely different. Although as the book goes on, I am getting worried on how she is going to obtain this different lifestyle. |
E: EATING
Restaurant: Drake’s Hollywood
![]() | When I went to Drake’s Hollywood, it was still a new restaurant in Houston. Their menu has gotten a glow-up since my last time there. These fries need all the praise. Our server almost tried talking us out of ordering these!? I am glad we did not listen because I am still thinking about them. Honestly I am still thinking about all of my food from that night. I ordered Honey Truffle Chicken that came with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. I truly had zero expectations for the creamed spinach but why was it SO good!? |
Recipe: Dense Bean Salad
Here me out! I don’t love beans. I don’t even really like beans. My brain tends to work in mysterious ways though and I saw this recipe and TikTok and thought: I need to have that. I have made it before and it truly is a fabulous meal prep! The TikToker has an entire series but I have only tried the one linked.
P: PLAYING
Music:
![]() | Let it be known that in DECEMBER on this newsletter, I was discussing my obsession for Xavier Legette. NOW he is in a GloRilla music video!? Don’t get me wrong I have watched the music video multiple times. I’m quite the fan but now everyone is on the Xavier train. I just want it to be known that I was the conductor! Song Recommendation: Typa - GloRilla |
Podcasts: Brooke & Conner Make a Podcast
![]() | This week Conner was missing from the podcast but instead we got Tristan & Channing. They are truly hilarious and when I heard they had a podcast together I was almost in…until I heard the premise. It is prank calls (now it’s not randoms - people are specifically asking them to do pranks on other people). But still! I truly am anti-prank. It gives me such second-hand embarrassment. I will have to support them from afar. |
Television: Law & Order SVU
![]() | I am making my way through Law & Order SVU. It is well known that everyone has guest starred on this show. I get so excited when I see someone that I know. Specifically Sarah Hyland in the most recent episode I watched (S10, EP 12). She is such an amazing actress? Why have I only seen her in Modern Family since!? Someone hire her in a drama or thriller movie ASAP. |
Movies: Promising Young Woman
![]() | If you know me, you know that this is my favorite movie. I have watched it more times than I can count. I also own the movie and show this movie to everyone that I can. Right now it is on Prime, so go watch it! The title is a play on words from a quote from the judge of Brock Turner’s case where he referred to him as a “promising young man.” That was all I needed to know to tune into this movie. I could write a thesis about this movie but I love how it brought this difficult topic into a movie and did a great job of doing so while putting it into an interesting plot. |
O: OBSESSED
General: Thrifting Baby Clothes
![]() | I’m aware that baby clothes are not featured in my photo. I enjoy thrifting in general but I realize it is not for everyone. Everytime I thrift I love looking at the baby clothes because they are so cute! I am at that age where I know people who are having children (scary). Cute baby clothes are in abundance at the thrifts because babies can only wear their clothes for a couple of months. I am determined to make my care packages full of the cutest clothes! |
Pop Culture: Wicked For Good
![]() | When the last Wicked trailer came out, I was not yet on to the Wicked obsession. I am fully on board now. The Wicked For Good trailer is out and I am ready to cry! I need the movie theaters to do their thing and have double features. I want to see the movies back to back! Yes… I am willing to sit for 5 hours or whatever the time would be! |
R: RECOMMEND: Greeting Cards
![]() | Particularly I recommend the greeting cards from Trader Joe’s (99 cents). They are just so cute! Of course they are perfect for special occasions but I am the type of person that is down to send/give someone a card just because. We all must agree that the best feeling is when someone does something “just because they thought of you.” Here is a great way to do that for someone. This is for all the sentimental baddies. |
T: TREAT: Coffee Shop Date
![]() | I’m declaring this the summer of coffee shop dates. Are coffee shop dates a new concept? Absolutely not. But it is a fairly cheap way to yap with the girls in a new setting. My most recent stop was at Luce Coffee Roasters. This is coming from a gal who does not love coffee. Matcha is my order of choice! Of course I always need an accompanying treat. Even with my pastries I prefer savory over sweet. |
SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Sabrina Carpenter
![]() | My disclaimer to this take is that I am not a huge Sabrina Carpenter fan! Nothing against her personally but her music isn’t for me. Her new single and her newly released cover photo… is not doing it for me. Sabrina girly…stand up please. |
YAPPY HOUR:
No one ever wants to hear about someone else’s dreams but here I go. I often have reoccuring dreams about being a dancer. I was in the dance studio and Chappell Roan was on my team (obviously). She hated me for some reason (I can only assume she was jealous of me). We got into a HUGE fight that came to physical blows and then I was really bummed because I knew listening to her music would not hit the same. I hope that if Chappell and I met in real life she would not physically harm me as she did in my dream dance studio. If you don’t want to keep hearing about my dreams - submit your yaps here!
