Rainy Girl Summer
Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,
My summer has officially started but my tan has been put on hold. Why? Because Houston has chosen now to be the perfect time to constantly rain. The grass is fed. Perhaps even overfed. I’m ready for the rain to move on.
xoxo, Hailey Girl
RANKING OF THE WEEK: Propaganda I’m Not Falling For
![]() |

R.E.P.O.R.T.
R: READING
JUST READ: Heartless Hunter: 3.5 stars (75/133 overall ranking)
Alert the press: I did not hate a fantasy novel! Now did I like this book enough to tune into the sequel? No, no I did not but we need to celebrate the small victories! This book didn’t have a lot of world building or difficult concepts to grasp which I appreciated. Unfortunately for me, I am stubborn and the enemies to lover trope… I would have kept this particular man as an enemy. Too unforgivable for me!
CURRENTLY READING: Flirting with Disaster by Naina Kumar
![]() | This book is set in Houston which is fun! It’s a re-imagined ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ story. I haven’t seen that movie but I might need to watch after reading this book. Of course, because they are in Houston, they are dealing with a hurricane. So far it is an easy read! |
E: EATING
Restaurant: Maven
![]() | I’m starting to consider that taco nights may be better for my budget than eating at home. Yes these are tiny, but they were $4 and better than anything I could make. Catch me seeking out local taco nights instead of ever cooking again! I do fear that Tuesday may be the only day I’m covered though. Normalize Wednesday taco deals! |
P: PLAYING
Music:
![]() | If you know me, you know the way to my heart is to compliment my playlists. Last week at my sister’s wedding, the hair stylists were HYPING up my get ready playlist. To the point where they were asking me to make it public of Spotify (it is) so that people stop using the generic ones. Say less! Here is the playlist and if you don’t have anything nice to say about the playlist - don’t tell me! Song Recommendation: Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield |
Podcasts: The Comment Section
![]() | We need to discuss how hilarious Caleb Hearon is. If you have not listened to Drew’s latest episode of the Comment Section with him, stop what you are doing and go listen. A part that particularly got to me was the discussion of a “crunchy green snack.” When group ordering at a restaurant, someone has the need to throw in a salad or cucumbers or some “crunchy green snack” to the mix. Personally, I’m glad he spoke up on this issue because I just don’t believe that people are genuinely wanting those items, they want to feel healthy. |
Television: Stranger Things
![]() | I feel like I’ve aged 10 years since the last season of Stranger Things but the trailer for the last season is here and I’m ready! Absolutely crazy that they are dragging this out to three parts but they got me because I’ll still tune in. Most of the trailer was a trip down memory lane but then all of the sudden at the end you realize this is going to be a heartbreaking season. I know I said I was ready but I’m not ready. |
Movies: One of Them Days
![]() | This was a fun movie and I honestly have zero complaints. I LOVE Keke Palmer and if I didn’t know who SZA was, I would have thought she was an up and coming actress. If you want an easy and funny watch, I highly recommend. It’s on Netflix right now! Rating: 8/10 |
O: OBSESSED
General: Singo
![]() | What is singo exactly? I had zero idea going into it. To be honest I got a little scared thinking that I may have to belt out Bingo in a sing-song tune. Luckily for my social anxiety, Singo was the best case scenario. Instead of yelling out B12, they play snippets of songs (and you are allowed to use Shazam). Hearing song snippets is way more exciting than hearing letters and numbers. This was at Maven and I will be returning to lose again. |
Pop Culture: Paige DeSorbo Summer House
![]() | Paige DeSorbo is leaving Summer House. Do I watch that show? No! But I LOVE Paige. From my biased understanding she is the star of the show so I wonder how the show will do without her! |
R: RECOMMEND: Too Good To Go
![]() | If you live in a city, go download the ‘Too Good To Go’ app. Basically it is where restaurants and grocery stores post bags of mystery stuff (sounds scarier than it is) for super cheap. The stuff is no longer fresh so they won’t be selling it but still good. If you have ever worked at a food establishment, think of it as the food you stole when you worked the night shift. I got my first orders from Whole Foods. My bakery bag was $6 and contained Donuts, Muffins, Croissants, and Brownies. My food bag was $10 and contained Salmon, Greek Salad, Macaroni Salad (x2), and another pasta salad. It is VERY much worth the money. |
T: TREAT: Cidercade
![]() | It’s wild that I’ve lived in Houston for almost four years and just now went to Cidercade. I love a silly game! I especially love a game when it’s cheap. Clearly I am in my frugal era! I just love to know that I can still do fun and cheap things in the year of 2025. I grew up with Dave & Buster’s and you could never finish the shooting games because it costs so much money to continue but this place has unlimited play. Catch me pressing continue an infinite amount of times! There are lots of old-school games but plenty of modern ones too. |
SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Lip Syncing Girlies
I’m embarrassed to admit this but I’m jealous of the lip syncing girls on tik tok! I want to be able to do that and not feel silly goofy embarrassed. Even when I was a child making music videos with my sister, lip syncing was not my strength. I went for dancing. Some girls make it look so effortless. People might say it’s not a skill but it absolutely is! A skill that I do not possess.
SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):
From the ages of 10-17 everytime my dad went on vacation, he paid me $20.00 to shave his back. The sad part is, I have 3 other siblings, and they all declined but me! Anything for buck ;)

DATING PROFILE OF THE WEEK:
![]() | This man failed to provide a singular green flag. He couldn’t even pull it together to get his age correct in his bio. As a fellow Aquarius, I know he has had plenty of time to update his age. While he is at it, perhaps he should just scrap the entire bio. |
