Summer Cravings

Dear Gentle & Saucy Yappers,

Having a cold when summer is so close feels very wrong! I truly need this cold to go away so I can activate my full hot girl summer. Last summer was BRAT summer and the summer before that was Barbie summer. It is not seeming like we will have an iconic theme this summer so we must revert back to hot girl summer!

xoxo, Hailey Girl

RANKING OF THE WEEK: Hottest Cocktails to Order

  1. Dirty Martini - this one pains me because I will never like this drink but I would be a liar if I said it wasn’t THE hot girl drink

  2. Cosmo - If I see a cosmo on the menu and I don’t know what to order I go for it simply for the hot girl factor

  3. Wine/Sangria - she is classy, she is sexy!

  4. Margarita - she is fun, she is sexy!

  5. Espresso Martini - guys this has nothinggggg to do with my personal love for an Espresso Martini

R: READING

JUST READ: The Reformatory: 3.5 stars (75/128 overall ranking)

I was worried for a moment about this book because it was a lot to finish it! It is long and sad. At around half way through the book, I started to get more into the plot! I didn’t expect happiness from a book set in the Jim Crow era but it made me angry. Especially when I thought about how this time period was not that long ago.

Favorite Quote: “Gloria had always found it silly that so much effort went into trying to send humans to space instead of learning how to get along on Earth.”

CURRENTLY READING: Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez

After reading The Reformatory, I NEED an Abby Jimenez book. She does love to pull at the heartstrings though. It has been a hot second since I have read a romance and we all know how I love an Abby Jimenez book. I don’t love a cartoon cover but Abby does them right because the covers are always so damn pretty!

E: EATING

Restaurant: Tumble 22

I LOVE a restaurant that does a little monthly shake up! Tumble 22 has monthly specials and if one calls to me, I have no choice but to go! And they never disappoint because this sandwich was as fabulous as it looks! This sandwich was the winner (understandably so) of people creating their own sandwich creation. Honestly I have no idea what chicken sandwich I would create but I fear it would not live up to the Cherry Pepper Popper.

Recipe: Dessert Dip

I hesitate to call this a recipe because I threw together three ingredients (no bake cheesecake filling, carmel, and mini chocolate chips) and called it a day. Having mini chocolate chips over regular ones seemed like an important distinction. This was my contribution for the dip potluck and paired it with apples and Teddy Grahams. Honestly this was an amazing combination and I would make it again.

P: PLAYING

Music:

Post concertion depression is very real. My music activity was just trying to bring me back to my concerts of last week. There is also a high probability that Charli and Kendrick will be fighting for my top artist spot on spotify wrapped this year. Last year my music taste was more moody overall with Hozier and Noah Kahan. This year I am enjoying the “high-energy chaos.”

Song Recommendation: King Kunta by Kendrick Lamar

Podcasts: Two Hot Takes

We have another poll for the yappers after listening to ‘Two Hot Takes.’ Now the story in the episode made it very clear that the writer was ‘Not the Asshole.’ He traveled for work often and had TSA pre check but his girlfriend did not have TSA precheck. He told her she should get it but she said it was too much work. One time he went through TSA precheck to get them coffee and breakfast while she went through security and afterwards she asked him not to do that anymore so he didn’t but she continued to get in fights with him afterwards about the time he “abandoned” her. It made me think though… if two people are traveling and one has TSA precheck but the other does not… what do you do? I know my answer but I will leave my answer reveal for next week.

What would you do?

Television: Ransom Canyon

Welcome back the CW! I’m not even sure the CW is gone but this Netflix show definitely gives CW vibes (in a positive way). I year for cowboys and Josh Duhamel so I was SAT. I have not finished the show yet but I plan on watching all of this season. It is not the most groundbreaking show. There are couples who cannot be together, family drama, and a villain of course! I honestly appreciate the easy vibes that this show gives.

O: OBSESSED

General: Baseball Game

Do not get it twisted. I am not obsessed with a baseball game unless I am there at the stadium with the necessary elements. The necessary elements include: a hot dog (preferably on $1 hot dog day), a cheap ticket, and my girls! With all of those elements the vibes are immaculate. Notice how I mentioned nothing about baseball. That was on purpose. I do cheer for my team but baseball as a sport is incredibly boring. I cannot image sitting at home and watching a game on television. I don’t even know if I looked up at this game for any of the beginning innings because no one was scoring.

Pop Culture: Benny Blanco PR

I never had anything against Benny Blanco but I have to admit I didn’t understand Selena’s vision when they started dating. Benny’s PR team is working overtime and it is simply working. Everything I see about this man is overly positive. He just seems like a swell guy! Most recently he took Selena Gomez to “prom” because she never went before. Like… damn it that is so cute! Cheers to Selena and I hope they are both happy!

R: RECOMMEND: Roster of Questions

One thing about me: I love a question. A silly question or a deep question, it does not matter! I want to know someone’s answer and get to know them more. I will say I need a willing participant because it is such a bummer when someone is not down to put in effort and answer the questions so pick your company carefully. Whenever I hear or come up with a fun question I add it to a running note on my notes app. Here are some of my favorites:

F/M/K: French Toast, Pancakes, Waffles

Who is someone unconventionally attractive who you are attracted to?

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

If you planned the met gala, what theme would you choose?

T: TREAT: Pool Day

I’m starting off my pool season a little early but the weather is telling me that it is summer! In the summer, I love a date at the pool with my kindle but a pool day with the girls is always a treat. Unfortunately I am not a girl who enjoys laying out. At the pool… I will be IN the pool. Otherwise I will be hot, sweaty, and unhappy.

SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Room Temperature Water

Everytime I share my disgust of room temperature water, someone is in my ear telling me “room temperature water is better for you.” I say this with as much as respect as I can muster… I do not care. I need my water to be CRISP. I need ice cubes. I need it to be cold as can be. I am not doubting the potential benefits of room temperature water but at the end of the day I’m already drinking water. The benefits of room temperature water will not outweigh how much more satisfying cold water is.

SAUCY STORY TIME (YAPPER WRITE-INS):

The flirting poll has divided the yappers and honestly I understand why! I probably agree with the majority vote of “I’m in the middle” (38.46%). Because if I can get a free drink, sure I’ll flirt and I don’t think flirting is a crime but I also don’t just do it for funsies. The “Yes” and “No” votes were tied with 30.27% each. We love a saucy take!
