JUST READ: The Nightingale: 5 stars (26/221 overall ranking)
For most of this book I did not think it would be a 5 star read and I was so shocked by that because this seems to be everyone’s favorite Kristin Hannah book. Don’t get me wrong I was still enjoying the book but it took me awhile to get into it. But the ending of this book ripped my heart out and left me sobbing. There was zero chance I could give it anything less than 5 stars because The Nightingale will stay with me forever much like my other favorite Kristin Hannah books.
Favorite Quote: “She knew now that no one could be neutral - not anymore - and as afraid as she was of risking Sophie’s life, she was suddenly more afraid of letting her daughter grow up in a world where good people did nothing to stop evil, where a good woman could turn her back on a friend in need.”
First Witches Club: 3 stars (150/221 overall ranking)
I have such mixed feelings about this book! The vibe was very much women are just magic because they are women. Period. Three women are wronged by their husbands and find each other and community. Obsessed. Sign me up. All three women immediately find new men who are their prince charming. Ehhhhh you lost me. Perhaps I’m a cynic but I just wanted at least one of the women to be man free. It was very cutesy just a tad unrealistic (and I’m not talking about the magic part).
CURRENTLY READING: Beartown by Fredrik Backman

It’s time for another book club read! The theme this book fell under was “emotional books that might make us cry.” I’m ready! There are a million characters in this book so luckily a friend of mine had a cheat sheet list to remember who all of the characters are.

Recipe: Vodka Sauce Meatballs

It’s another dinner party recipe! This was my first time making vodka sauce and this recipe did not disappoint. A perfect side!

Music:

I was not in attendance but the WOMEN OF LOLLAPALOOZA. My goodness. A stacked line up in general but the women are the ones who brought their A-Game. I never watch a concert but after seeing clips of Charli’s performance…I was sat. Charli’s headlining set gave me full body chills. The rain starting during her set? Cinematic. She puts on an amazing show. Charli, Lorde, Audrey Hobert, Zara Larson, Tate Mcrae, Olivia Dean, Slayyter. Wow. Actually insane.
Song Recommendation: brand new chanel$ - Slayyter
Podcasts: Celebrity Memoir Bookclub
This has nothing to do with celebrity memoirs but it was discussed on the podcast. They were discussing using a shared notes app instead of a group chat to put important information that later will need to be revisited for group trips. I thought that was genius. The amount of times I have had to scroll to find the Airbnb address or the itinerary. I will be using this in the future.
Television: Survivor Cook Islands

This season was wild but I actually was obsessed with it? The season started off by splitting the group into four separate tribes based off of race. Yes, you read that correctly. And even though this was the early 2000’s I don’t think that was acceptable back then either. Yul is my new Survivor crush and Cook Islands is my #2 season overall!
O: OBSESSED
General: Book Exchange

I read on my Kindle and not physical copies but let me be performative so I can participate in a book exchange! It was White Elephant where none of the gifts sucked! I brought ‘Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine’ and received ‘Slewfoot.’ Don’t worry! I will be reading the physical book!
Pop Culture: Ariana Grande Break

Ariana Grande is taking a step back from the public eye now that her tour is over and I think that is for the best. Now I hope she takes this time to heal and not simply to be away. While she is clearly unwell, the thousands of think pieces on her are also not helpful.
R: RECOMMEND: Going All Out for Friend’s Celebrations

I always will recommend going all out for your loved ones! Whether it’s their birthday, a job promotion, a wedding, or just any life achievement it will be worth the celebration. Seeing your loved ones happy will make you happy and fill your cup.
T: TREAT: Squishy Basket

Yes I am 29 years old and yes I have a basket full of squishes! I simply need them to get through the work day or any stressful times. The kids are on to something!
SAUCY TAKE OF THE WEEK: Men Reading
If a man only reads non-fiction that is going to annoy me. Sorry not sorry. It is better than not reading anything don’t get me wrong but there is value in fiction books! Value that men could really stand to add in their lives. Stories, emotion, and human connection. It’s ok to take a break from learning about how to make more money or about World War II!!!
YAPPY HOUR: Reply Guy
There is a new kind of reply guy I am introducing but I realized I have never introduced the concept of a ‘reply guy’ to Yapple! I love to categorize things, including types of men! A reply guy is someone who will like or comment on anything that you post but never have a real conversation with you or make plans. They could also be referred to as a fan but Reply Guy has a special type of ring to it! Reply Guys are special because every girlies thirst trap deserves to be recognized. When I have a few cocktails, I find myself engaging in Reply Guy behavior to be honest. Stay tuned next week for the new kind of reply guy.
